Hours of operation

From Monday to Friday, between 8:00 and 16:00, excluding holidays

Areas of use

The microdurometer is used for hardness tests that require small test forces (0.1 kgf - 30 kgf), such as: small-sized samples, thin layers, determining the hardness of structural constituents that make up the microstructure of metallic materials.

The device can be used, for example, in research aiming the development of wear-resistant protective coatings, by identifying the structural constituents with high hardness, which enter into the composition of the layers.

The microdurometer is also used in metallographic expertise carried out for economic agents in order to establish the cause that led to the destruction of machine parts during processing or exploitation or to carry out qualitative industrial analyses.

Involvement of the equipment in teaching activities

The microdurometer is used to support:

  • laboratory activities carried out with students in the disciplines:
  • Selection and characterization of materials – First year, CTSM, Master's degree;
    • activities for the completion of studies at the undergraduate and master's cycles;
  • doctoral research activities.
